A parallel nano-scanning calorimeter enables multiple samples to be probed with scanning calorimetry. By integrating this with X-Ray diffraction using a 2D detector at the CHESS facility at Cornell, Vlassak is able to simultaneously measure the phases present from the X-ray scattering and the calorimetric data for multiple samples. This provides new insight into the properties of metallic glasses, and represents a novel screening method for development of new materials.
