Holiday Science Lecture for Families
A Grain of Salt: Isn't it Ionic

The 14th annual Holiday Science Lecture for families brought over 650 people to Harvard for an interactive hour on the properties of table salt, or sodium chloride. Children and their parents participated in demonstrations of the ionic properties of salt acted out by children, as well as short experiments. The highly popular lecture is developed collaboratively by the Harvard and Princeton NSF Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers, and takes place at both Harvard and Princeton, reaching over a thousand people each December.
